View of Centralia

Somewhere centuries ago, a community decided to celebrate and a festival was born. Vendors sensed that people would gather and be in a mood to buy their wares. Those living in the area of the festival realized that visitors from afar would need a place to rest.

Visitors came to the community with some staying and becoming a “local”. Vendors decided that the festival was sustainable, so they stayed on and created what they called “marketplaces”. The community now had a commercial center. Dwellings that offered hospitality became inns and eating places, some even offering entertainment.

Thus, tourism was born …..

Tourists come to Centralia for many reasons. Some people come to our historic community to visit friends or relatives while others come for attractions such as our 17 murals or the famous Olympic Club, a 101-year old landmark that features one of Washington’s few theatre pubs.

No matter what brings you to Centralia, we’re sure you will enjoy an enjoyable experience you will not soon forget.
