Parks and Recreation
Recreation is many things to many people. It is a leisure activity that brings personal enjoyment to an individual. The Centralia Parks and Recreation Divisions offers an opportunity for creative, wholesome and enjoyable leisure activities for the individual, the family and the community. The Centralia Parks and Recreation Divisions formulates, stimulates and encourages frequent and regular communications with all members of the community in order to assure that programs, goals and objectives are consistent with community needs and desires. Recreation opportunities available include:
• Numerous youth and adult softball and baseball leagues and tournaments
• Youth and adult soccer
• Youth sport camps
• Youth and adult basketball
• Adult volleyball
• Youth arts/cultural programs
• Annual Arts Jamboree
• Youth craft activities
• Youth wrestling
• Youth and adult tennis lessons and tournaments
• Racquetball to swimming activities offered through Thorbecke's Fitlife Center (360-736-1683).
Several community special events are held each year including: Summer Fest; Centralia to Chehalis Bike Ride; Seattle to Portland Bike Ride; Hershey Track and Field Meet; City All Comers Track Meet and the Lions Club Youth Fishing Derby in Borst Park. Facilities are available for family gatherings, birthday parties, class reunions and other special events.
