The Community Development Department helps preserve, protect and enhance the community's quality of life while maintaining its unique character. We strive to ensure quality growth and developments that will promote the values and goals of the city.

Our main goal is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of our residents and their property. We are responsible for building inspections, code enforcement, current and long range planning, zoning, permit coordination and parks and recreation.

The Department also answers questions on growth management planning, mapping, annexations, flood plain management, State and national Environmental Policy Act administration, shoreline management permits and FEMA disaster assistance program administration.
